My Nintendo Store changes to Nintendo Store on May 27, 2026

My Nintendo Store, the online platform where users can buy digital games for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, as well as redeem accessories and rewards with Platinum Points, will change its name to Nintendo Store on May 27, 2026. Nintendo of America announced the change via social media.

Reason for the name change

The rebrand is inspired by a meme from the film "The Social Network," where Justin Timberlake's character suggests that Mark Zuckerberg should drop the "The" from "The Facebook" to make it sound cleaner. Nintendo appears to have found the joke amusing and has chosen this approach for the upcoming brand update.

No change to the service

After the change, the content and functionality of the service will remain unchanged. The online platform will continue to let users buy digital games and access its rewards program without any changes. The word "My" was never much of a talking point among users anyway, who more often just called the platform the "eShop."

Timing of the change

Expectations for the rebrand have been circulating for about six months, especially since Nintendo introduced the Nintendo Store app in November 2025, which did not include "My" in the name. That suggests the move to just "Nintendo Store" is a planned evolution of the brand.

With this change, Nintendo hopes to strengthen brand consistency and simplify the user experience. Going forward, the focus remains on offering a wide range of digital content to customers.
