NBA 2K25 disappears from digital sale on 30 October 2026

2K will delist NBA 2K25 on 30 October 2026, with servers set to shut down at the end of the year.

  • The game is said to be discontinued on 31 December 2026, while IGN places the server shutdown on 1 January 2027.
  • After the servers go offline, only a few offline modes will remain available, including Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA.

What happened

GameSpot reported that NBA 2K25 will be pulled from digital sale on 30 October 2026. That date matches the official NBA 2K support information, which states that the game will no longer be available for purchase from that day.

The same source says the game will be fully discontinued on 31 December 2026. IGN, however, says the servers will be shut down on 1 January 2027. In other words, the two sources describe the same end-of-life process, but use slightly different dates for when online support actually ends.

According to IGN, online features will disappear once the servers are turned off, including parts that depend on a server connection. The outlet specifically mentions MyCareer and MyTEAM as modes that will no longer be fully usable without online access. Offline modes such as Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA will remain available for players who already own the game.

IGN also reports that NBA 2K25 can be re-downloaded and played offline after the shutdown. That means the game will still be accessible to existing owners after delisting, but without the online features tied to server support.

Timeline

  • September/October 2024: NBA 2K25 launches, according to the provided source context.

  • 30 October 2026: NBA 2K25 is removed from digital sale.

  • 31 December 2026: the game is marked as discontinued, according to GameSpot and the official support text.

  • 1 January 2027: IGN lists this as the date the servers are shut down.

  • After the server shutdown: Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA remain available offline, according to the sources.

Background

The announcement follows the usual pattern for the NBA 2K series, where annual sports games eventually lose online support. The provided NBA 2K support information explicitly says NBA 2K25 will no longer be available on 30 October 2026 and will be discontinued on 31 December 2026.

The official NBA 2K25 website lists MyCAREER, MyTEAM, and MyNBA as core parts of the game. That is why the split between online and offline features matters here: not every mode disappears at once, but server-dependent features lose their online component once support ends.
