Nintendo Switch 2 production and expected price increases

Nintendo plans to produce an impressive 20 million Switch 2 units by the end of the current fiscal year, which runs through March 2027. That figure is up from the company’s previous target of 16.5 million units. Strong demand for the Switch 2 has already translated into 19.86 million consoles sold in the first year after launch.

Those increases will take effect in September 2026, with the U.S. price rising from $449.99 to $499.99. Countries such as Canada and several European markets will see similar hikes. In Canada, the price will go from $629.99 to $679.99, while in Europe it will increase from €469.99 to €499.99.

The revised sales outlook follows an earlier adjustment. Last year, Nintendo raised its Switch 2 projections from 15 million to 19 million units. That revision reflects strong demand for the console, which has even outpaced sales of the original Nintendo Switch. Nintendo said the Switch 2’s performance was "well above expectations."
