Overwatch reveals new skin concepts for 2026
The popular hero shooter Overwatch has recently unveiled a number of new skin concepts through a series of surveys. The concepts span themes ranging from Battle Sharks and Island Parties to Hell Bikers and Animal Gangsters. These skin concepts were shown to a select group of fans who regularly provide feedback on potential hero skins.
What does the survey involve?
Every few months, Overwatch sends surveys to selected players. These surveys feature concept art for possible skins, some of which have gone on to become official cosmetics in the game. Examples include the Spring Fairy and Court of Roses skins, which first appeared in the February 2025 surveys.
Timeline
December 2023: Overwatch’s first skin survey is sent out.
February 2025: The Spring Fairy and Court of Roses skins appear in the surveys.
May 2026: Overwatch presents 39 new skin concepts across 10 themes.
Details of the new skin concepts
The latest surveys - collected and shared by a player on Reddit - include 39 skin concepts spread across ten themes. For fans of ocean-themed games like Subnautica 2, there are Battle Sharks, Abyss, and Island Party skins among the lineup. For players who prefer a more alternative style, there are also Demo-Punk, Animal Gangsters, and Hell Bikers skins available.
In total, 26 of the current 51 heroes appear at least once in these new designs. Well-known heroes such as Kiriko and Wuyang each have two skins, while some less frequently featured heroes like Brigitte, Hazard, and Mauga get a chance to shine. Newer heroes such as Emre, Mizuki, and Jetpack Cat are also represented.
When can we expect these skins?
Overwatch skin surveys have been running since December 2023 and are sent out roughly three times a year. That means the May 2026 survey is the ninth one. About half of the themes seen in the first five surveys have led to one or more skins that actually made it into the game. Notable themes like the Norse skins from season 14 and the Demon Rocker skins from season 16 are examples of concepts that were picked up.
It usually takes at least a year before survey skins appear in the game. The skins from the January 2026, September 2025, and April 2025 surveys have not yet been introduced in-game. That means the earliest we may see these new skin concepts could be in 2027, likely no earlier than season 2 or 3 of the story content that will then be available to players.
Players are encouraged to let Blizzard know which skins they like best, increasing the chances that their favorite designs eventually make it into the game.
