PlayStation launches 'The Playerbase' with Gran Turismo 7

PlayStation has recently launched a new community program called 'The Playerbase', offering fans the chance to personally engage with one of their favorite games. The first title under this program is Gran Turismo 7, a popular racing game developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. This initiative allows a selected fan to have their likeness scanned into the game and even contribute personally to the design of certain elements in the game.

What is The Playerbase?

The program aims to strengthen the connection between PlayStation and its fans. Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President of Global Marketing at Sony, describes it as a unique opportunity for passionate players to be part of large game worlds. The winner of this competition will see their likeness as an in-game character in Gran Turismo 7, alongside the chance to design a unique Fantasy Logo and a vehicle livery.

Participation Requirements

To participate, entrants must be at least 18 years old and register on the Playerbase website. They need to fill out a form sharing a special memory that illustrates their relationship with PlayStation. Submissions will be judged on creativity and engagement with the PlayStation brand, which can include owning PlayStation products and the time spent on various games.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of multiple rounds:

1. First Round: Submissions are evaluated for originality and engagement with the PlayStation brand.
2. Second Round: Successful participants are invited for a video interview, where they must demonstrate their love for PlayStation and Gran Turismo 7.
3. Third Round: Three candidates are chosen, but their winner status is provisional and subject to background checks and contract signing.

The Legacy of the Competition

The winner not only gets included in the game but also has the chance to design a unique part of Gran Turismo 7, allowing for a lasting impact on the game. The Fantasy Logo and vehicle livery will remain permanently visible in the Gran Turismo 7 Showcase.
