Pokémon TCG Pocket: New ‘Paradox Drive’ expansion announced

Pokémon TCG Pocket has announced a new expansion called 'Paradox Drive'. This digital expansion, which focuses on Generation 9 Pokémon, will launch on May 27 at 6:00 PM PT. This is the B3a expansion and introduces a new set of so-called 'Paradox Pokémon', including the popular Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex.

What are Paradox Pokémon?

Paradox Pokémon are unique variants of existing Pokémon and make their debut in this expansion. They are based on the concepts from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, where the story revolves around Pokémon brought to the present by a professor and their time machine. With the 'Ancient' and 'Future' subcategories of these Pokémon, the expansion brings a new dynamic to Pokémon TCG Pocket gameplay.

New cards and possibilities

The 'Paradox Drive' expansion introduces several new cards. Among the biggest additions are Koraidon ex and Miraidon ex, representing the Ancient and Future Pokémon respectively. There are also new cards such as Flutter Mane ex and Iron Bundle ex. A notable addition is the full art version of Raging Bolt, which will appear in the expansion.

The expansion also brings new Trainer cards that will resonate with fans of the Generation 9 games. Professors Turo and Sada play an important role in gameplay; Turo lets you shuffle a Future Pokémon back into your deck, while Sada offers the powerful ability to attach three different Energy from your discard pile to an Ancient Pokémon.

Gameplay and events

Alongside the new cards, the 'Paradox Drive' expansion will be accompanied by a series of new gameplay events. These will include new solo battles to build up timers. A special Paradox Drive emblem event will begin at the end of May, followed by a community week in June. New covers and accessories, including items featuring Miraidon, will be available on May 31.
