Reacher renewed for fifth season ahead of season four premiere

Prime Video has confirmed that the popular action-drama series Reacher, starring Alan Ritchson, has been renewed for a fifth season. The announcement comes ahead of the launch of season four, which is set to arrive later this year.

Strong viewership for season three

The third season of Reacher delivered impressive results, drawing 54.6 million viewers worldwide within its first 19 days after release. That made it the most-watched Prime Video season since the first season of Fallout over the same period. The success has helped cement the series’ ongoing popularity and reinforces the appeal of the Lee Child book adaptations.

Season four and the book adaptation

The fourth season of Reacher is based on the 13th novel in the series, Gone Tomorrow, which was published in 2009. Although the show does not follow the books in strict order, Alan Ritchson has previously said he would prefer adapting the second novel, Die Trying, which was released in 1998. The choice of which books get adapted remains a topic of speculation among fans.

Alan Ritchson’s upcoming projects

Alongside his role in Reacher, Ritchson has also recently worked on the Netflix film War Machine. He also has a new movie, Motor City, in which he stars alongside actors including Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber, and Ben Foster, set to hit theaters in July. It remains unclear how these projects will affect Ritchson’s day-to-day schedule, especially given the fierce competition in the entertainment industry.
