Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection officially announced

A look back at the Rugrats franchise

Rugrats, the iconic Nickelodeon animated series, debuted in August 1991 and follows a group of toddlers on their adventures. With a rich history spanning more than 35 years, Rugrats has grown into a successful franchise, including numerous spinoffs, feature films, and adaptations. To date, more than 20 video games based on Rugrats have been released, with the latest, Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, arriving in 2024. This recent game is a throwback platformer directly inspired by many of the titles included in the new collection.

What is the Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection?

The Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection has now been officially announced, a compilation of six beloved Rugrats games. The collection is being developed by Limited Run Games and will be available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. It is scheduled to launch later in 2026.

Announced titles in the collection

The Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection will include the following six classics:

Rugrats: Search for Reptar (PS1)
The Rugrats Movie (Game Boy and Game Boy Color)
Rugrats: Time Travelers (Game Boy Color)
Rugrats: Studio Tour (PS1)
Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (PS1 and Game Boy Color)
Rugrats: Castle Capers (Game Boy Advance)

Modern features in the collection

In addition to the classic games, the Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection includes a range of modern features. These include:

A rewind and save-anywhere system
Screen filters that recreate the look of a CRT monitor or retro handheld devices
A digital museum with the manuals and box art for each game
A music player featuring tracks from the games

Editions and pre-orders

Both versions of the Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection will be available in two editions:

Standard edition: just the physical copy of the game for $34.99 on both PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
Deluxe edition: priced at $64.99, this edition includes a physical copy of the game, a PS1-inspired case, a CD soundtrack, stickers, and a Reptar puzzle-piece keychain.

Pre-orders for both editions begin on May 1 at 10:00 a.m. ET and end on May 31 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The estimated shipping window for both versions is between October 1 and December 31, 2026.
