Sam Neill, known from Jurassic Park, has shared an "extraordinary" health update after an advanced cancer treatment. In 2023, Neill was diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer. Since then, he has been fighting the disease for years with standard chemotherapy.

Diagnosis and the start of treatment

Neill began chemotherapy, which was initially effective. He described it as a "horrible thing," but said it kept him alive. However, over time the chemotherapy stopped working, leaving the actor deeply concerned. Neill said, "I was up against it and it looked like I wasn't going to survive." Switch to CAR T-cell therapy

After stopping chemotherapy, Sam Neill began CAR T-cell therapy, a form of immunotherapy. In this treatment, a patient's T cells are genetically modified to recognize and attack cancer cells. The process involves collecting a sample of the patient's own white blood cells, which are then reprogrammed to identify the cancer cells. Once these cells are put back into the body, they are able to fight the cancer.

Outcome of the treatment

Recently, Neill underwent a scan that showed there were no cancer cells left in his body. He described the result as an "extraordinary experience" and called it "science at its best." The news brought relief not only to the actor, but also to fans who had been worried about his health.

Future plans

In recent months, Neill has been active again, reuniting with his old Jurassic Park co-stars Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum for a Super Bowl commercial. This also featured the use of innovative digital de-aging technology. Neill has said he is considering acting in a film again. While there has been no official announcement of a return to Jurassic World, he is involved in a role in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is set for release in 2027.
