South Park season 29 confirms return to Comedy Central

The popular animated series South Park will return to Comedy Central in September 2026, as confirmed by co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The new season, which will be season 29, premieres on September 16, 2026 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

In addition to airing on Comedy Central, new episodes will also be available to stream on Paramount+. For viewers in the United States, Canada, and Australia, episodes will be available on the platform the next day.

Episode schedule

Fans can expect a new episode every two weeks. The additional episodes will air on September 30, October 14, October 28, November 11, and November 25, 2026. This release pattern means the season will span several weeks with a steady stream of new content.

Previous seasons

Season 28 of South Park ended in December 2025 after a run of five episodes. That season was notorious for controversial episodes that drew reactions from various politicians and organizations, including the White House. The previous season, season 27, also ended abruptly after just five episodes, making it unclear whether season 29 will follow the same structural trend.

Traditionally, Parker and Stone create each episode week by week, resulting in a chaotic production process but also timely and relevant episodes. This approach is often marked by their tendency to respond to current events and themes, which was also the case with the recent episodes that sparked political controversy.

Parker and Stone also have a lucrative deal with Paramount for the global streaming rights to South Park, which includes delivery of 50 new episodes across five seasons. The creators have agreed to produce at least 10 new South Park episodes per year.
