Windrose: pirate survival game with release on the way

Windrose, a promising pirate survival game, has finally received a release date. This title, focused on co-op gameplay and survival, has been eagerly awaited by players looking to dive into adventures set during the Golden Age of Piracy. The game will launch in Steam Early Access on April 14, 2026.

Windrose, developed by Windrose Crew and published by Pocketpair, is set in an alternate version of the 18th century. The story begins with the player as a shipwreck survivor who must stay alive on a deserted island. Players can fight their way across the ocean and reclaim their pirate life by capturing ships, expanding their crew, and building bases.

The game offers plenty of options for players. With support for up to four players in co-op, Windrose includes several gameplay elements, including:

With more than 1.5 million wishlists on Steam, Windrose has drawn huge interest. The developers have a plan to expand and improve the game over time, with full release expected to take between 1.5 and 2.5 years and include around 50% more content.
