WWE 2K26: new Rey Mysterio version coming to Ringside Pass Season 3

WWE 2K26, the latest entry in the popular wrestling game franchise, continues to surprise fans with its huge roster of superstar characters. It has now been announced that Ringside Pass Season 3 will add a rare version of Rey Mysterio, first seen in WCW. This version of Mysterio recalls his time with the Filthy Animals, a faction he formed in 1999 with other future WWE legends.

New additions to the roster

WWE 2K26 gives players more than 370 superstars from both the current WWE roster and the company’s past. Current stars include names like Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, while legends such as The Undertaker and “Macho Man” Randy Savage are also featured in the game. Development is handled by Visual Concepts, which regularly adds new superstars through the Ringside Passes.

Rey Mysterio’s Filthy Animals variant

The upcoming Rey Mysterio variant in WWE 2K26 is based on his fan-favorite look as a member of the Filthy Animals, wearing denim overalls and a Mysterio skullcap. This season of Ringside Pass, scheduled for June 2026, will also introduce several other new superstars, including Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, and Danhausen.

However, it is notable that this new version of Mysterio in WWE 2K26 wears a black mask, even though the real Mysterio did not wear one at the time he joined the Filthy Animals. He had removed his mask earlier that year after a loss in a tag match against Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, members of the iconic nWo faction. It was only in 2002, when he joined WWE, that Mysterio began wearing his mask again.

What to expect next

Alongside the additions in Season 3, Visual Concepts is also planning future seasons with more exciting content. The Hardy Boyz will be added in Season 4, along with Lady Shani and rapper Jelly Roll. Season 5 will include fan-favorite talent Danhausen, while Season 6 will introduce superstars such as Royce Keys, Earthquake, and Typhoon. Fans can look forward to continued roster growth over the coming months.
