New Xbox controllers leaked: cloud controller and Elite 3

On 14 May 2026, photos leaked of two new Xbox controllers that have not yet been officially announced. The information surfaced through Brazil's regulatory agency Anatel, which accidentally posted images of these still-unrevealed gamepads online.

Cloud controller for Xbox game streaming

The first controller to leak is a cloud controller designed specifically for Xbox game streaming. This controller is smaller than a standard Xbox gamepad and includes all the usual buttons and sticks, but in a more compact and cheaper form. It is expected to be easy to carry, making it ideal for gamers who want to play on the go or in rooms with a TV that supports game streaming.

The controller is designed to connect directly to games over Wi-Fi, resulting in less latency compared with Bluetooth connections. The idea is similar to how the controller worked for the now-defunct game streaming service Google Stadia.

The Elite 3 controller

Later the same day, photos also appeared of what seems to be the Xbox Elite 3 controller. This controller will likely be more expensive than the cloud controller. The Elite 3 appears to offer several upgrades, including a swappable d-pad, extra buttons, and scroll wheels on the underside for adjusting controller settings. These features make the Elite 3 a versatile option for players who want more control.

Specific features and functionality

The Elite 3 controller will also support cloud streaming via a direct Wi-Fi connection, an essential feature given Xbox's growing focus on cloud gaming. It also appears that the Elite 3 will come with a removable and rechargeable battery, a feature already available on older Xbox controllers, but now standard on the Elite 3.

It is currently unclear exactly when these controllers will hit the market and what their pricing will be. With Xbox's upcoming announcements, it is quite possible that both the cloud controller and the Elite 3 will be officially revealed soon.
