A Sequel to It Follows is At Last on the Way: They Follow

The popular horror movie It Follows is getting a sequel named They Follow, as announced by distributor Neon. The original director and writer, David Robert Mitchell, and leading actress Maika Monroe have been confirmed to return. The project has no specified release date, but the film is expected to start shooting in 2024.

It Follows, originally released in 2014, turned out to be significantly successful for its low budget, generating 21 million dollars globally. Minimal information about the sequel's plot has been disclosed, but Monroe will be reprising her role as Jay Height.

The predecessor revolved around Jay, a young woman haunted by a mysterious figure after engaging in sexual activity with her boyfriend. The premise combined with a slow but strong tension build-up won it acclaim as a notable modern horror film.

The sequel's announcement comes amidst the thriving horror industry, which continues to yield substantial box office profits. The series Five Nights at Freddy’s and other horror sequels like Talk to Me and The Black Phone have scored remarkable success recently.
