Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick remains appointed until end of this year
Oct 13, 2023 3:40 PMNews about gaming giant Activision Blizzard is certainly a hot topic in the gaming world. Bobby Kotick, the current CEO of the famous company Activision Blizzard, announced recently that he'll stay in his position until the end of the year. The news was shared with the public via the official website and internally through an email to his team.
The extension of Kotick's role as CEO comes after Microsoft declared its successful acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Kotick stated, "I’ve committed to assisting with the transition process. Phil (Spencer, Xbox boss) requested that I remain in my current CEO role at Activision Blizzard and report to him. I will stay on to perform this task until the year's end. We both look forward to a smooth transition for our teams and players."
Kotick, who first became Activision CEO in 1991, kept the title after the merger between Activision and Vivendi Games in 2008 which resulted in forming Activision Blizzard. Under his leadership, the publisher saw great success with games like Call of Duty, Diablo, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. However, in recent years, the company faced accusations about maintaining a toxic work culture, a problem that many critics claim had been overlooked by Kotick.
