The eagerly anticipated Alien TV series set to air on Disney and FX has made an exciting addition to its cast, bringing on board Timothy Olyphant from The Mandalorian. This prequel series will mark a first for the Alien franchise as it ventures to an earth-based setting approximately 70 years in the future. Olyphant is slated to portray a character named Kirsh, a synthetic being serving as a mentor to Sydney Chandler's character Wendy, a unique "hybrid" with the mind of a child but in an adult's body.

After the interruption caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike, it is expected that shooting will resume in early 2024, with a January or February start in sight. Olyphant reunites with Noah Hawley, having previously worked together in the fourth season of Fargo. The cast also features notable actors including Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, and Kit Young. Alongside the TV show, an Alien movie titled Alien: Romulus is also in development by 20th Century Studios, with a planned release for August next year, directed by Fede Álvarez and starring Cailee Spaeny.
