Announced Analog 3D Console Will Play All N64 Games in 4K Enhanced

Videogame hardware developer Analogue is set to stun the gaming world with its newest project— a modern take on the classic Nintendo 64 console, dubbed the Analogue 3D. Slated for release in 2024, this advanced version of the iconic 64-bit console boasts 4K resolution and is being hailed as the most comprehensive rendition of the N64 ever made.

According to Analogue's Christoper Taber, the improved resolution has enabled the creation of Original Display Modes that are "incomprehensibly profound." The Analogue 3D will also support Bluetooth connectivity and features four original-style controller ports. Die-hard N64 fans can now whip out their old wired N64 controllers to experience classic gaming goodness in a contemporary scenario.

Teaming up with gaming peripheral maker 8BitDo, Analogue is crafting a wireless controller specifically for the Analogue 3D. Unfortunately, the company has yet to provide full previews of either the console or the controller, but the mystery only serves to heighten the excitement surrounding the forthcoming system.

An exciting guarantee for the Analogue 3D is its promise of 100% compatibility with every N64 cartridge, regardless of region. However, players should note that copyrighted ROM files will not be playable on this device, nor will it support OpenFPGA, a software available on the Analogue Pocket.

Fans of the original Nintendo 64, a gem in the history of gaming since its release in 1996, are sure to be thrilled by this announcement. Despite its popularity, no modern device until now has allowed for native play of N64 game cartridges. The Analogue 3D fills this gap, allowing dedicated fans to enjoy their favorite N64 games without having to resort to a CRT TV or hunt for a compatible HDMI adapter for the original console.
