Feb 12, 2024 11:09 AM

The highly anticipated return of the iconic sci-fi franchise is near, as the first trailer for 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' has been released. This forthcoming movie marks a significant time jump from its predecessor, 'War for the Planet of the Apes,' leaping forward roughly 300 years into a future where apes have risen as the dominant species. Humans have regressed into a primitive state while apes have flourished under the leadership of bonobo Proximus Caesar, played by Kevin Durand. The narrative follows ape protagonist Noa, portrayed by Owen Teague, who begins to question the established world order and the ethical implications of hunting humans. He also starts to uncover truths about the planet’s history that contradict what he's been taught. The trailer teases an alliance between Noa and a more cognitively advanced human, played by Freya Allen from Netflix’s 'The Witcher.'

The film is directed by Wes Ball, known for his work on 'The Maze Runner' series and who is also associated with the upcoming live-action 'Legend of Zelda' film. 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' promises to deliver another epic chapter of the storied franchise when it arrives in cinemas on May 10.
