Apple has recently announced the latest refreshes for its MacBook Pro laptops, new 14- and 16-inch models equipped with the new M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips. In addition to their new hardware, these models also come in a new Space Black finish.
These new MacBook Pro models are available for pre-order today, with all but the M3 Max models slated for release on November 7. The M3 Max models, parading as the most powerful of the bunch, will become available between November 9-13.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 chip starts at $1,599 ($1,499 for education), the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro starts at $1,999 ($1,849 for education), and the 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,499 ($2,299 for education). Each can be purchased in either Silver or the new Space Black finish, with options to upgrade up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 8TB SSD storage.
All models feature the Liquid Retina XDR display, a 1080p front camera, a six-speaker sound system, up to 22 hours of battery life, and more. The M3 family of chips are the first built for personal computers utilizing 3-nanometer technology, promising impressive performance and energy efficiency. The M3 Max model is touted as being up to 11 times faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro and up to 2.5 times faster than the M1 Max model of the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Additionally, the new MacBook Pro line's enclosures are made of 100% recycled aluminum, according to Apple, aligning with their commitment to environmental sustainability. The laptops use "100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets, and 100 percent recycled tin soldering and gold plating in multiple printed circuit boards."
This is a notable update to the MacBook Pro line, following their most recent updates earlier this year to the 14 and 16-inch models that included the M2, M2 Pro, and M2 Max chips.
