505 Games and ArtPlay have announced a prequel titled Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, set for release in 2026. This game takes players back to 16th century England, where a floating castle controlled by Demon Lord Elias threatens the populace. Players will control two new heroes—Leonard Brandon, a young fighter from the Church’s Black Wolves, and Alexander Kyteler, a knight from the Kingdom’s White Stags. Together, they will endeavor to topple Elias and liberate their kingdom. The game boasts a large map with day-night cycles, crafting and cooking mechanics, and new combos to discover, appealing to both veterans of the original Bloodstained and newcomers to the franchise. The game will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026.

What gameplay features will Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement include?

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement will feature a large map, day-night cycles affecting gameplay, crafting, cooking, and customization options. Players can control both protagonists simultaneously, unlocking new moves and combos as they progress.

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement serves as a prequel to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, a game created by Koji Igarashi, known for his work on the iconic Castlevania series. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, released in 2019, was well-received for its nostalgic qualities and gameplay reminiscent of classic titles in the genre, gaining an 8.8 rating for its compelling monster designs and exploration mechanics.
