Red Dead Redemption 2 may be making its way to the Nintendo Switch, according to a Brazilian government rating board listing. As Sherif Saed reported on September 26, 2023, the rating board's page for the Rockstar game showed that the Nintendo Switch has been added as one of the supported platforms, in addition to other platforms such as PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
This alleged Switch listing was discovered by Twitter user necrolipe, who claimed the Switch support was a recent addition. Now, it is noteworthy that the provided information is limited in nature, and it reveals that the rating was published on September 12, 2018. This coincides with the period just before the game was launched on PS4/Xbox One in October that year.
The listing includes all platforms, evidently the PC version as well, which was released in November the following year. Further insights from the Internet Archive suggest that an update was made to the site on September 25, though it's unclear whether this was done to add the Switch as a platform.
Previously, Rockstar ported the original Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmares DLC to Nintendo Switch and PS4. There's speculation whether Rockstar has managed to optimize Red Dead Redemption 2 for the Switch, considering potential visual and performance compromises.
However, it appears more likely that if Red Dead Redemption 2 is arriving on a Nintendo platform, it would be the yet-to-be-officially-announced Switch 2. The rumored console is reported to have a power level comparable to the PS4/Xbox One – the initial launch platforms for Red Dead Redemption 2.
