May 28, 2024 8:50 AM

Capcom is reportedly developing remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code Veronica, following the success of their previous Resident Evil remakes. According to a Twitter/X report by Dusk Golem and corroborated by IGN sources, these remakes are currently in development, although Capcom has not made an official statement. Resident Evil Zero was initially released on the GameCube in 2002 and later remastered in 2016 and 2019. This prequel to the original Resident Evil follows Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen as they navigate the Arklay Mountains. Resident Evil Code Veronica, originally launched for the Dreamcast in 2000, shifts from the series' traditional pre-rendered backgrounds to real-time 3D environments. The game features Claire and Chris Redfield fighting to survive on a prison island. Capcom continues to work on Resident Evil 9 and is also preparing for the release of Monster Hunter Wilds in 2025.

What are the next Resident Evil games to be remade?

The next Resident Evil games to be remade are Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code Veronica.

Resident Evil Zero was a notable entry as it introduced character switching mechanics, allowing players to control two characters simultaneously to solve puzzles and combat enemies. On the other hand, Resident Evil Code Veronica was one of the early games to leverage fully 3D environments and dynamic camera angles, enhancing the immersive experience that became a hallmark of the series.
