Capcom has officially announced its intentions to create more Resident Evil remakes after the success of the remakes for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4. This news was shared at a PlayStation partner awards event in Japan, with Resident Evil 4 remake director Yasuhiro Anpo expressing his commitment to continuing the remake series and acknowledging the positive reception from fans.

While Capcom has not yet revealed which specific Resident Evil game will receive the remake treatment next, there is strong speculation amongst the fan base for a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, a title that originally debuted on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000 and later saw a remastered version for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Other possible candidates for remakes include the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0, and the action-focused Resident Evil 5.

The discussion also highlighted the advantages of developing remakes as opposed to new games, citing the existing fanbase and valuable player feedback as contributing factors to the success of their remakes. Capcom also plans to continue using their in-house RE Engine for future projects, with producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi noting its contributions to the efficiency of game development.

Resident Evil 4's remake, which launched in March, was met with critical acclaim, including a 10/10 review score from IGN, praising it as "the series' most relentlessly exciting adventure". The remake of Resident Evil 3 was released in April 2020, and Resident Evil 2's remake came out in January 2019. Given this timeline, fans are eagerly anticipating an announcement from Capcom for the next entry in the Resident Evil remake saga.
