CD Projekt has publicly apologized for the inclusion of anti-Russian elements in the Ukrainian version of their game, Cyberpunk 2077. This version contained references to the Russo-Ukrainian war and supposedly offensive terms, which were brought to attention after the Update 2.0 release and preceding the launch of Phantom Liberty on September 26. The offensive elements were included in parts of the dialogues, which CD Projekt has stated they didn't write or endorse.

Regarding the offending dialogues, the company clarified that these were not created by CD Projekt Red's team and do not represent the organization's stance. The firm announced that they'd be rewriting the incorrect dialogues and incorporate them in the forthcoming update.

Clarifications were made by the Localisation project manager, Mariia Strilchuk, regarding these corrections to the Ukrainian localization. She indicated that the changes apply to instances where the translation misrepresented its initial meaning, which included particular references to the Russo-Ukrainian war. The company maintained its support to Ukraine while emphasizing it prefers expressing it through positive actions.

CD Projekt Red has previously shown their support by ceasing game sales in Russia and contributing one million Polish z?oty to a humanitarian charity in Ukraine. The Ukrainian rendition of Cyberpunk 2077 was localized by SBT Localisation, a Ukrainian firm that has previously worked on games like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Darkest Dungeon.

Although it is not certain which elements CD Projekt Red will remove from Cyberpunk 2077's Ukrainian version, these changes will likely take place in the next update.
