Christopher Nolan's blockbuster biopic Oppenheimer is approaching the $1 billion mark at the global box office. Universal has confirmed a home release date and revealed that it will include over three hours of special features. Oppenheimer is set to release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, and digitally on November 22. The home release includes The Story of Our Time: The Making of Oppenheimer, a 70-minute behind-the-scenes documentary featuring interviews with Nolan and his creative team.
Additional features include an NBC News companion documentary titled To End All War: Oppenheimer and the Atomic Bomb, and the Trinity Anniversary Panel Discussion, moderated by Emmy-winning journalist Chuck Todd. Special guests Christopher Nolan, Nobel Prize winner Doctor Kip Throne, physicist Doctor Carlo Rovelli, Los Alamos National Laboratory Director Doctor Thom Mason, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Kai Bird also participate in the discussion. The home release's aspect ratios will mirror that of selected theatrical locations.
The blockbuster has already earned $942 million worldwide. Dubbed "Barbenheimer" by fans, the film was released alongside Barbie as part of the year's biggest movie event. IGN rated Oppenheimer a perfect 10/10, commending it as a full-tilt biopic that's as "stunning as it is terrifying".
Special features on the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD also include cast and crew insights, production details, costume and makeup design expose, and details on the film's score by Ludwig Göransson. In addition, it features an exploration of how Christopher Nolan's vision inspires innovation in filmmaking, trailers, and a Q&A moderated by Chuck Todd involving Christopher Nolan, author Kai Bird, and physicists Dr. Kip Thorne, Dr. Carlo Rovelli, and Dr. Thom Mason.
