Cosmo Jarvis will reprise his role as pilot John Blackthorn while also serving as a co-executive producer. Hiroyuki Sanada, who plays Lord Yoshii Toranaga, has been promoted to executive producer. Production is scheduled to begin in January 2026 in Vancouver, following the storyline a decade after the first season. The new season promises to be a wholly original chapter inspired by James Clavell's novel, continuing the intertwining fates of Blackthorn and Toranaga amidst historical conflicts.
