Crash Bandicoot 5: The Crossover Fans Have Dreamed Of

Aug 26, 2024 9:05 AM

A recent report reveals that Crash Bandicoot 5 was in development, featuring a long-anticipated crossover with Spyro the Dragon. Initially hinted at by a former developer at Toys For Bob, details surfaced about the game's direction, which would have been a direct sequel to Crash 4. Concept art suggested both classic and new villains, along with gameplay mechanics allowing players to navigate each other's worlds and utilize team-up moves. However, the project was ultimately scrapped as Activision was dissatisfied with the sales performance of Crash 4 and opted to shift towards live-service games like Crash Team Rumble.

nWill there ever be a new Crash Bandicoot game?

While the future of the Crash Bandicoot series is uncertain, there is hope for new content, as Toys For Bob is working on an undisclosed game and they've gained independence from Activision. Fans are eagerly waiting for updates on whether this will be a new Crash or Spyro title.

Crash Bandicoot has a long and celebrated history in the gaming world since its debut in 1996. The franchise has evolved over the years with several remakes and new installments, including the recently popular N. Sane Trilogy and Crash 4: It's About Time. Spyro the Dragon, known for its vibrant worlds and platforming gameplay, has also seen a resurgence with its own remastered edition. A collaboration between these two iconic characters would have made a splash in the gaming community, but for now, fans will have to wait to see what the studios create next.
