Crysis Next Gameplay Teases Cancelled Battle Royale for Crysis 4

Aug 28, 2024 8:52 AM

Crytek has seemingly canceled its battle royale project codenamed Crysis Next in favor of focusing on the upcoming Crysis 4. Early gameplay footage of Crysis Next recently surfaced on YouTube, showcasing third-person shooting mechanics with familiar gameplay elements from the franchise. Despite attempts to remove the footage, some clips are still available. Crytek has not officially commented on this development. The decision to pivot from Crysis Next is likely influenced by the massive popularity of the battle royale genre in the late 2010s, which saw many developers experimenting with the format.

What is Crysis 4 and when is it coming out?

Crysis 4 is the forthcoming installment in the renowned Crysis series, which is known for its graphical fidelity and immersive gameplay. Although a specific release date has not been announced, the game is highly anticipated following its reveal in January 2022.

The Crysis series, first launched in 2007, has left a significant mark on the gaming world, particularly for its advanced visuals and innovative gameplay mechanics. The original game became synonymous with PC performance benchmarks, famously accompanied by the phrase "But can it run Crysis?" Despite some remastered releases over the years, fans have been eagerly awaiting news on Crysis 4 since its teaser announcement.
