Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Renamed as Pre-Production Begins

CD Projekt has officially renamed the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, formerly known as Project Orion, to Cyberpunk 2 as it enters the pre-production phase. This update marks a significant milestone since the sequel was announced back in 2022. The development team size has increased moderately, with 96 developers currently working on the project, while the primary focus remains on The Witcher 4, engaged with 422 employees. CD Projekt also reported impressive sales figures, with Cyberpunk 2077's Project Liberty expansion surpassing 10 million copies sold and The Witcher 3 achieving over 60 million sales. Upcoming releases include a Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077, poised to launch alongside the new console, as well as a Mac port, while details on Cyberpunk 2 hint at a new city experience reminiscent of a "Chicago gone wrong."
