Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition has been revealed as the first Xbox Series X game to come with three discs, a unique approach in delivering the complete experience of the game and its Phantom Liberty expansion. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that this physical edition is the only way to get Phantom Liberty on a disc, as the PlayStation 5 version will include a game disc and a code for the expansion, while the PC version comes with a GOG code for both the base game and the expansion.

Set to outpace Baldur's Gate 3 as the first triple-disc release for Xbox Series X, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will launch on December 5, 2023, ahead of the anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which is also releasing on multiple discs for PS5 in February. The need for multiple discs and the inclusion of a code for PS5 are due to technical specifications and cost-related considerations, similar to what was seen with releases like Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade and Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate.

Cyberpunk 2077's physical edition update marks its debut under current-generation branding, with previous versions available only for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Ultimate Edition, which includes all previous updates from CD Projekt Red, will only be available for current-generation consoles. Despite a rocky start, Cyberpunk 2077 has made a significant turnaround with new updates and the Phantom Liberty expansion, contributing to its sales milestone of 25 million copies as of October 2023.

Phantom Liberty, which launched on September 26, has been reviewed highly for its innovations and final touches to the game, rounding out Cyberpunk 2077's offerings and building on the success of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime and the game's 2.0 Update. Players can expect a complete and revamped Cyberpunk 2077 experience with this Ultimate Edition release.
