Even with the anticipated launch of Nintendo's next-generation console, dubbed 'Switch 2', the company isn't planning on ditching the original Switch anytime soon. An announcement regarding the Switch 2 is rumored to occur in the near future, with the actual console release expected in 2024. Nonetheless, Nintendo has confirmed their commitment to the current Switch platform till March 2025.

According to Nintendo's CEO, Shuntaro Furukawa, there will still be new game releases for the existing Switch till the end of the gaming giant's fiscal year in 2025. The focus will remain on the original Switch till the end of March 2024, which marks the closure of Nintendo's fiscal year. Even after that, the console will continue to see support in terms of new games until the succeeding fiscal year ending March 2025.

Furukawa emphasized that they're not only seeking new hardware demand but also purchases of secondary consoles and replacements. The leadership of Nintendo predicts that the current momentum of popular titles such as Zelda and the Super Mario Bros movie will also buoy the holiday sales season.

Excitingly, Nintendo Switch has a roster of major releases to look forward to, such as Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a side-scrolling Mario adventure, and a brand new Princess Peach game called 'Princess Peach Showtime' set for launch in March. Other anticipated releases include a HD port of Luigi's Mansion 2 and a remake of the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - both titles are hugely popular among Nintendo fans.
