The E3 Expo, a popular event for unveiling cutting-edge gaming news and technology, likely won't be taking place in 2024, as per recent reports from owner ReedPop. The organization hasn't yet locked down an event organizer or location for the 2024 exhibition. Subtracting from the usual hype, repeated cancellations courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic have put a damper on hosting prospects for this year.
Initially, ReedPop had envisioned a revival for E3 in collaboration with the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), but a series of disappointments led to the cancellation of the event once more this year. Consequently, partnership engagement between ReedPop and the ESA has since been suspended.
Post this, it's indicated that the organization of future E3 events will revert back into ESA's hands. As per tentative plans, they seem determined to host E3 in the year 2025. However, it's yet to be confirmed officially if this will materialize. Of note since the pandemic, many major publishers have been notably opting for their own press events, while Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest has been providing an overarching, unifying framework.
Looking forward to gaming events closer to home? Rest assured, Gamescom still stands and Menno recently enjoyed some hands-on experience with games like Super Mario Bros.
