EA Sports FC 24 players have been horrified by a huge glitch that has invaded the Ultimate Team Weekend League, labelled as the worst glitch in EA football video games history. The glitch, nicknamed 'Trickster Glitch', allows players with the Trickster+ playstyle to secure a goal as the ball attaches to the back of their foot, leaving their opponents helpless.
To resolve the issue, EA has temporarily removed the Trickster+ playstyle from Ultimate Team Players Items, stating they'll restore it once the issue is addressed in a future Title Update.
Despite the community's outcry urging for a delay of the Weekend League to preserve the integrity of the competitive multiplayer in Ultimate Team, it proceed as planned on October 20. High-profile EAFC 24 streamer Bugs won multiple games by exploiting the glitch, insisting he was 'exposing' rather than 'promoting' it. He controversially asserted that if his account gets banned for 'saving the game he loves', he'd consider it a necessary sacrifice.
Members of the EAFC 24 community are now demanding that EA Sports penalize those who've exploited the glitch to win matches, and to withhold their winnings. Meanwhile, EA continues to investigate the issue. EAFC 24 launched just a few weeks ago, and is already dealing with a microtransactions controversy. Despite launch sales for the game being down 10% compared to FIFA 23 and 3.7% compared to FIFA 22, EA did predict a decline this year after the FIFA fallout. Still, more than 11.3 million gamers worldwide, including those through EA Play, have played EAFC 24, with a 20% YoY increase in new players.
