Jan 03, 2024 4:23 PM

Xbox Game Pass is kicking off January 2024 with a strong lineup of games, including major titles such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Resident Evil 2. Released on January 3, Close to the Sun brings a blend of horror and historical fiction aboard Nikola Tesla's mysterious ship. Assassin's Creed Valhalla, available from January 9, invites players to explore a Viking raider's journey through a vast open-world England with opportunities to visit Norway and North America. Resident Evil 2, coming on January 16, offers a modern remake of the classic survival horror game with intertwined stories of Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine during a zombie apocalypse. Other games such as We Happy Few are also adding to the horror vibe, providing a tale of escape from a dystopian society. The news comes as Xbox Game Pass announces games like Grand Theft Auto 5 and the Personas will be leaving the service in January 2024. The early 2024 additions to Xbox Game Pass reinforce its value with a mix of indie experiences and blockbuster adventures.

Which titles are leaving Xbox Game Pass in January 2024?

Grand Theft Auto 5, Garden Story, MotoGP 22, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable are all set to leave Xbox Game Pass in mid-January 2024.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the twelfth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, developed and published by Ubisoft. It continues the series' tradition of combining historical settings with fiction, this time focusing on the Viking invasion of Britain. The game received praise for its storytelling and immersive world, although it faced some criticism for bugs at launch. Resident Evil 2 is a remake of the 1998 game, which is part of the Resident Evil franchise developed and published by Capcom. It is known for revitalizing the survival horror genre and was highly acclaimed for its presentation, gameplay, and faithfulness to the original.

Xbox Game Pass continues to flex its muscle by refreshing its library with a solid mix of adrenaline-pumping action and gripping narratives this January. While it's a bummer to see classics like GTA 5 and the Persona titles make their exit, the addition of heavy hitters like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and the masterfully remade Resident Evil 2 ensures that the rotation stays fresh and engaging for all kinds of gamers.

Xbox Game Pass is seriously upping the ante with these heavy hitters – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Resident Evil 2 are massive draws for those into epic sagas and chilling horror. It's a bummer to see classics like GTA 5 and the Personas roll out, but that's the ebb and flow of subscription services — out with the old, and in with the Norse gods and zombies

Game Pass is really delivering the goods this month; it's like a treasure trove for anyone craving that mix of history-drenched storytelling and classic horror. Sad to see heavy-hitters like GTA 5 and the Persona titles go, but adding Assassin's Creed Valhalla and the superbly reimagined Resident Evil 2 is sure to soften the blow for subscribers 🎮👻
