Online rumors suggesting tech billionaire Elon Musk had a cameo in the video game Cyberpunk 2077 have been debunked by a senior game designer from CD Projekt RED, the company behind the game.
Many players had speculated that a non-playable character (NPC) found in a bathroom early in the game was designed in Musk's likeness. However, senior quest designer Patrick K. Mills has unequivocally rejected such rumors.
Internet gossip about Musk's appearance in the game gained momentum after the release of an excerpt from his biography by Walter Isaacson where Musk, during a visit to the studio as his then-partner Grimes was recording her lines for a game character, reportedly insisted on a cameo while carrying a 200-year-old flintlock pistol.
This scenario was denied by Mills who stated, regardless of whether Musk visited the office or not, it doesn't mean the ambiguous game character was intended to represent him. In conclusion, the character that players stumble upon in the bathroom scene is not Elon Musk.
In other Cyberpunk 2077 news, the game will see a free update 2.0 release on September 21 with the Liberty City paid expansion following it on September 26.
