Elon Musk's new AI startup company, xAI, has unveiled Grok, a chatbot designed to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard. Grok takes inspiration from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and is set to deliver a more playful approach to chatbot communications. Musk explained that Grok is designed to answer queries with a sense of humor and wit, making it a unique choice for users who enjoy sarcasm. Furthermore, Grok has been given real-time access to information on the X/Twitter platform and will respond to 'spicy questions' that other AI systems typically avoid. However, Musk did not provide a precise definition of what constitutes a "spicy question."n
Grok will be available for $16 a month with an X Premium Plus subscription, and it will also be offered as a standalone app after its beta phase. Musk unveiled Grok approximately a week after his appearance at the inaugural AI Safety Summit, where he predicted a future where AI becomes so advanced it could render human efforts obsolete. Musk has previously been a co-founder of OpenAI and has integrated AI tech in his companies such as Tesla.
