Epic Resubmits Fortnite App Store Request After Week-Long Wait

May 15, 2025 9:05 AM

Epic Games has withdrawn its submission for Fortnite's return to the iPhone App Store in the US after not receiving approval from Apple. The submission process, which typically takes a day or two, has extended as Epic sought to align Fortnite's next update with Apple’s review. Following a recent court ruling requiring Apple to allow developers to offer their own payment methods, Epic's CEO, Tim Sweeney, expressed frustration over the lack of communication from Apple. Fortnite has notably returned to the App Store in the EU while still facing challenges in the US, as Apple has appealed the ruling.

Will Fortnite return to the iPhone App Store soon?

While the timeline remains uncertain, Epic Games has resubmitted Fortnite for review with an updated version. However, until Apple approves, a definitive return date can't be confirmed.

Fortnite has been a cultural phenomenon since its launch in 2017, known for its battle royale mode and frequent updates that keep gameplay fresh. The ongoing struggle between Epic Games and Apple over payment methods has highlighted the complexities of app store policies and developer autonomy. As Epic navigates the legal landscape to regain full access to its player base, the gaming community remains eager to see how this saga unfolds.

Ugh, this Apple-Epic standoff is giving me major loading screen that never ends vibes. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Tim Sweeney starts emoting on the courthouse steps. Love how Fortnite's EU return feels like a sneaky respawn while the US version is still stuck in the lobby—talk about uneven matchmaking

Ah, the Epic vs. Apple saga continues—feels like we're stuck in a never-ending battle royale of corporate drama. At least EU players get to enjoy Fortnite while the rest of us watch from the sidelines like it's some twisted exclusivity deal. Kinda wild how a game about building forts has turned into this massive legal showdown. Here’s hoping the next update includes a ‘Skip Courtroom Drama’ button for players.
