Microsoft doesn't need to gain approval again from the European Commission for the takeover of Activision Blizzard, according to Bloomberg. The Commission had already given its consent earlier this year, and despite adjustments made to the deal to satisfy the British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), a full reevaluation isn't necessary.
The deal was amended so that following the acquisition, Ubisoft would gain the rights to offer Activision Blizzard games through cloud streaming services. However, this doesn't apply to the European Economic Area, and therefore the European Commission doesn't need to render a new judgement.
The one remaining obstacle to the takeover's approval is the CMA. The British regulator's decision is scheduled for October 18 although rumors are circulating that a verdict may be given on the previous Friday. If the CMA gives its consent, nothing will stand in Microsoft's way to acquire Activision Blizzard for approximately $68.7 billion.
Activision has recently announced its plans to have its games on Xbox Game Pass by 2024.
