The recent PlayStation-exclusive beta for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has already sparked concern among fans about potential cheating in the game. Twitter user @Duqysss shared videos that seem to show instances of wall hacks and aim bots being used in the PlayStation 5 version of the game. It remains unclear how widespread or severe the cheating was.
Call of Duty has struggled with hackers and cheats in recent years, leading some players to disable crossplay to avoid PC cheaters. However, it's worth noting that console versions of the game are not immune to cheating, either.
Activision, the game's developer, has been developing a new anti-cheat system named Ricochet in hopes of curbing the rise of cheating before it gravely damages the reputation of Modern Warfare 3's competitive multiplayer environment.
The beta test this past weekend could be the last PlayStation-exclusive test, as Microsoft is close to finalizing its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The game itself is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on November 10th.
