Although the development team has mostly disbanded to pursue new projects, Yoshida remains open to the uncertain future, suggesting that while no sequel is in the works, new FF16-related developments could still potentially happen down the line. This news means that the fate of Valisthea, the rich and detailed setting of FF16, and its characters remains largely in the air post-DLC release.

Seems like FF16 will be more of a self-contained gem for now, with Square Enix letting it marinate with fans before even thinking about a follow-up.
