Final Fantasy 7 writer: Stop asking to kill characters
Nov 08, 2023 4:29 PMKazushige Nojima, co-writer of the original Final Fantasy 7 and the chief writer of its remake series, is asking fans to refrain from sending him requests to kill off characters in the upcoming game. Nojima expresses that he writes each character with love and does not want to block or mute fans, nor lock his account in response to these messages.
Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, the second installment of the iconic RPG's remake trilogy, is set to release on February 29, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and will be exclusive to the platform for a minimum of three months. At the end of the first part, which was released a few years ago, the heroes leave Midgar and venture into the open world—a key plot point from the original game.
Square Enix, the publisher behind Final Fantasy, has reported a decline in profit despite an increase in sales, attributed mainly to the weak yen and the absence of a new expansion for the MMO Final Fantasy 14 within this fiscal year. The next expansion, Dawntrail, is scheduled to release in 2024.
