First Descendant Patch Drops: No More Immunity Sphere Dance

Jul 12, 2024 7:27 AM

Nexon has released the first patch for The First Descendant, bringing several crucial updates without disturbing the current meta builds. Patch version 1.0.2 introduces matchmaking support for Hard mode Infiltration Operations and removes the tedious requirement of hitting Immunity Spheres in sequence. The update also triples the drop rate for rare basic materials from Encrypted Vaults and adds additional sources for these materials in Elite Vulgus and Infiltration Operations. Performance improvements have been made to address stuttering issues. Interestingly, ultra-strong builds like Tamer and Gley's infinite magazine builds remain unnerfed as Nexon plans to introduce even stronger builds in the future. This approach allows players to explore various powerful setups. However, there continue to be complaints about the aggressive monetization and some apparent overlaps with icon designs from Destiny 2.

What are the major changes in The First Descendant's first patch?n

The first patch in The First Descendant, version 1.0.2, introduces matchmaking for Hard mode Infiltration Operations, removes the Immunity Sphere sequence during named monster fights, and increases the drop rate for rare basic materials. Performance optimizations were also made to resolve stuttering issues. Despite expectations, no nerfs were applied to strong meta builds.

The First Descendant is a free-to-play, third-person shooter developed by Nexon. Drawing inspiration from Warframe, the game features various characters with unique abilities and a strong emphasis on looting and farming. The game has faced criticism for its aggressive monetization tactics and similarities with other games, but it remains popular among players for its engaging gameplay and character designs.

I'm loving how Nexon is addressing some player concerns without shaking up the meta in The First Descendant; the enhanced matchmaking and material drops are definitely steps in the right direction. Still, fingers crossed they tackle the aggressive monetization soon because that's a major buzzkill for many players.

It's awesome to see Nexon focusing on quality of life improvements without shaking up the current meta too much. The matchmaking update and increased drop rates should make grinding a lot more rewarding, but they definitely need to address those monetization concerns soon.

Looks like Nexon is striking a good balance by enhancing the gameplay experience with more generous drop rates and less grind without nerfing the fan-favorite builds. It's refreshing to see a patch that prioritizes player enjoyment and technical improvements, but the aggressive monetization is still a glaring issue many players hope will be addressed soon enough.
