James Gunn surprised fans at SDCC 2024 by revealing the first look at the animated series "Creature Commandos." The teaser, later posted on Twitter, shows Rick Flag Sr., voiced by Frank Grillo, meeting Amanda Waller at Belle Reve Prison where they discuss the non-human prisoners in the Non-Human Internment Division. The cast includes Steve Agee, Maria Bakalova, Anya Chalotra, Zoe Chao, Sean Gunn, David Harbour, Alan Tudyk, Indira Varma, and Viola Davis. "Creature Commandos" is set to be the first project in the newly rebooted DC Universe by Gunn and Peter Safran, debuting on Max in December 2024. Gunn also unveiled the new DC Studios logo during the panel.

Who are the main characters in the Creature Commandos animated series?

The main characters include Rick Flag Sr., The Bride, Dr. Phosphorous, Weasel, GI Robot, Nina Mazursky, and Frankenstein. The voices behind these characters feature an impressive cast, including Frank Grillo, Steve Agee, Maria Bakalova, Anya Chalotra, Zoe Chao, Sean Gunn, David Harbour, Alan Tudyk, Indira Varma, and Viola Davis.

"Creature Commandos" is a lesser-known team from DC Comics, originally introduced in the 1980s. The group consists of various monstrous characters such as a vampire, a werewolf, and a gorgon, united during World War II. The animated series retains this quirky and diverse lineup, promising to bring a mix of horror and superhero elements to the new DCU.
