First Look at Zelda Williams' Directorial Debut, Lisa Frankenstein, Suggests a Beastly Love Story

Oct 26, 2023 10:38 PM

The first trailer for "Lisa Frankenstein," a horror romantic comedy, has been released by Focus Features. The film is helmed by Zelda Williams, daughter of the late comedian Robin Williams. The narrative revolves around Lisa Swallows, a solitary, outcast high school goth girl from the 1980s, portrayed by Kathryn Newton, who develops a bizarre infatuation with the cadaver of a Victorian Era boy, portrayed by Cole Sprouse.

Upon uncovering his body and coincidentally resurrecting him with a tanning bed, the unlikely pair are involved in a range of eerie capers, which include chasing people for missing body parts. The film features the writing mastery of Diablo Cody, who is well-known for her work in Juno and Jennifer’s Body. Williams has also expressed her excitement over making the film on X. She described Cody's script as the most extraordinary and peculiar zombie script she's ever read. "Lisa Frankenstein" is set to hit theaters on February 9, 2024.
