Fortnite's epic quest for Nintendo stars continues

Dec 12, 2023 9:53 AM

Epic Games is actively pursuing the inclusion of Nintendo characters in Fortnite, a task compared to the complexity of diamond creation by Epic's Saxs Persson. Despite having characters from various franchises, including those from Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo has not shown interest in partnering with Fortnite thus far. Meanwhile, Fortnite has introduced three new experiences: Lego Fortnite, a customization-heavy mode with a Lego aesthetic; Rocket Racing, inspired by Rocket League; and Fortnite Festival, a music-themed game from Rock Band developers, which will feature support for Rock Band instruments. These experiences are confirmed to be permanent additions to Fortnite, not temporary events. Epic Games emphasizes their commitment to enhancing the Fortnite universe with continual updates and experiences.

Could we eventually see Nintendo characters in Fortnite?

While Epic Games is eager to incorporate Nintendo characters into Fortnite and believes players would enjoy it, Nintendo has yet to agree to such a collaboration. The outcome remains uncertain, and it's unclear if or when Nintendo characters might join the Fortnite roster.

Epic's hustle to get Nintendo on board with Fortnite is like trying to speedrun an agreement with a company known for its cautious crossovers—it's a marathon, not a sprint. Meanwhile, Fortnite keeps on innovating with these fresh permanent experiences, showing that no matter what, the game's landscape is gonna keep evolving and keeping us on our toes.

Epic's hustle to bring Nintendo IPs to Fortnite's ever-growing multiverse is like a gamer chasing that elusive 100% completion—it's a tough quest but would be a legendary win for crossover fans. Meanwhile, the new permanent experiences show that Fortnite's not just about battle royale anymore; it's evolving into a broader gaming platform, and who wouldn't want to bash some tunes on their dusty Rock Band guitar in Fortnite Festival

It's fascinating to see Epic Games' ambition in expanding the Fortnite universe; their relentless innovation and crossover content continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in a battle royale. Still, Nintendo's notorious for being protective of their IPs, so it'll be interesting to see if they'll be game to join forces with Fortnite's ever-growing ensemble.
