Freddy's Five Nights Scores a 78 Million Dollar Debut in US Box Office

Oct 30, 2023 2:17 PM

The video game adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy's, made by Universal and Blumhouse, is breaking box office records with a $78 million domestic opening and an additional $52 million internationally, bringing its global debut to $130 million

This achievement is particularly impressive considering the horror flick debuted simultaneously in theaters and on Peacock, challenging the success of other big movies like Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends

While Halloween Kills earned $133 million at the box office and Halloween Ends pulled in $104 million, Five Nights at Freddy's has surpassed one and is nearing the other - within just three days

The film not only holds the record for the biggest Blumhouse opening ever, but also stands as the biggest horror debut of the year both globally and domestically, outperforming Scream 6 ($44.4m) and The Nun 2 ($32m)

Despite initial criticism, Five Nights at Freddy's has been enthusiastically received by audiences, and its robust box office performance may lead to multiple sequels
