FromSoftware, the game development company known for Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne, appears to be gearing up for a major expansion. IGN Japan reports that the company is currently recruiting for several departments for "several new projects". Nonetheless, beyond the Elden Ring expansion - Shadow of the Erdtree, there are no announced games in development and the company has not shared any additional information in its job postings.
The company is looking for various roles in game planning, R&D, programming, character design, background design, cinematic art, motion design, production, sound design, and several other departments. This suggests that the company is looking to ramp up its development capabilities significantly.
FromSoftware's fans have been eagerly anticipating new entries in its most popular franchises. Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne are often mentioned among the most awaited games. The company's last release was a Dark Souls game in 2016. Bloodborne is close to its ten-year anniversary, having launched in March 2014.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has also hinted at a sequel. However, the company’s history of releasing standalone games indicates it is not adverse to creating brand new franchises. Fans of its famously challenging action role-playing games will have to wait to see what the company announces next.
Shadow of the Erdtree currently does not have a release date and FromSoftware only shared some concept art images for the expansion when it was announced in February. More recently, the company released Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon in August, which scored an 8/10 in IGN's review.
