EA's FIFA series has encountered numerous bugs over the years, but the latest one on FC 24 is arguably the most troublesome to date. Noted by Wesley Yin-Poole of IGN, the bug allows a player to execute a skill move that attaches the ball to the back of their character's leg, enabling them to run directly into the goal with the opponent being helpless to stop it. Ultimate Team's Division Rivals mode has been particularly impacted, affecting player rankings and rewards.

'Trickster+' playstyle bearing players can exploit the bug following a specific sequence of moves—the timing for this is tricky, and a limited number of in-game players have the Trickster+ playstyle, thus somewhat limiting the bug's reach. However, the bug is replicable, posing a potential problem for receivers in the Ultimate Team matches.

The FC community expressed alarm about the bug's implications on FC 24's competitive aspect. IGN has sought EA Sports' comment, and it is anticipated that the issue will be rectified swiftly. In the interim, players speculate whether EA will deactivate the Trickster playstyle or postpone the ultra-competitive Weekend League until the bug has been fully addressed.

Against the backdrop of the bug, it is reported that FC 24 launch sales are down 10% compared to FIFA 23 last year in Europe and lower than 2021’s FIFA 22 by 3.7% in 2021. However, over 11.3 million global players include EA Play, and the new player count in FC 24 has increased by nearly 20% year-on-year. Despite the drop in sales, FC 24 continues to perform best in the UK market.

The game also encountered microtransactions controversy recently, with the community shock over a $30 Ultimate Team pack available for purchase before the game's proper launch. The attention now is on EA for their action to address the bug.
