Ubisoft is addressing player concerns about the controversial chromatic aberration feature in Assassin's Creed Mirage by facilitating its deactivation. The feature, a graphical effect that mimics lens distortion to infuse gameplay with a cinematic look, has been termed frustrating and disorienting by numerous players.

Expected to roll out towards late October, this update will see chromatic aberration turned off by default and will provide players an option to toggle it on. Ubisoft initially did not include an option to disable chromatic aberration for Assassin's Creed Mirage during its launch.

Waldo, a community team member from Ubisoft, shared on the game's official Discord that the feedback about chromatic aberration was being addressed and that the forthcoming update would deactivate the feature across all platforms by default.

Ubisoft's move reflects similar circumstances around the launch of Final Fantasy 16, where backlash over motion blur effects led to inclusion of a disable feature in subsequent updates.

Assassin's Creed Mirage, launched on October 5, has marked a return to the franchise's slower-paced, stealth-centric gameplay. It departs significantly from the role-playing game foundations of its predecessors like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. IGN, in an 8/10 review, commended Assassin’s Creed Mirage's return to stealth which originated in the series, and pronounced it a successful move.n
