Fans of the Subnautica series can look forward to a new addition, with the latest game scheduled for release in the first half of 2025. Publisher Krafton announced the release timeframe during their recent financial report, revealing plans for the newest entry to the underwater exploration and adventure series.

Developer Unknown Worlds, who began working on the third Subnautica game last year, is on the hunt for a senior narrative designer to contribute to the expanding Subnautica universe. Alongside the Subnautica development, Unknown Worlds is also creating Moonbreaker—a turn-based sci-fi game with elements from tabletop RPGs, akin to games like Xcom and Hearthstone. Moonbreaker features miniature figurines players can paint and use in tactical battles and is currently available on Steam Early Access.

Unknown Worlds was acquired by Krafton, the South Korean company behind the hit game PUBG: Battlegrounds, in 2021. This move positions Krafton to diversify its portfolio and capitalize on the success and fanbase of the Subnautica games. The excitement for the next Subnautica installment builds as players await the chance to dive into new aquatic adventures on platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC gaming systems when it eventually launches.
